About Ailish...

Hey, I'm Ailish Bennett, I'm 18 years old and I'm from a small village just outside of Manchester! I'm currently taking a gap year, before going to the University of Manchester in September 2013 to study Chemistry. My goal is to become a Forensic Scientist, because who doesn't want to be the next CSI?
I love, love, love travelling! Growing up, my family and I went on holiday at least twice a year, visiting places such as Spain, France, Greece, Turkey and the Canary Islands. I've also been on a skiing trip to Austria with my old high school. In September 2012, I travelled the 10,000 miles to Sydney, Australia to visit family and see the sights. After climbing Sydney Harbour bridge, dancing on the steps of the Sydney Opera House and getting my taste of the Australia night life, I got bored of Sydney, (yeah right), and flew over to Adelaide, to visit my best friend who moved there in 2009! These were some of the most amazing months of my life, and are part of the reason I applied to Americamp; to add one more country to my list of visited!

Since a very young age, I've danced. From Ballet and Tap, to Ballroom and Latin; you name it, I've tried it. I took Ballet, Tap and Modern lessons until the age of 7, when I decided to try Disco, Ballroom and Latin, which I carried on for another 8 years. I studied Contemporary Dance at GCSE, where I discovered my love for choreographing, and took up Street dance lessons, which I still attend. I regularly taught kids to dance, choreographing short routines, and then performing them with primary school children in showcases.

Another love of my is sports. I was brought up watching football, as a die-hard Manchester United fan. From as young as 5, I remember going to matches with my dad, who had a season ticket, and it has stuck with me ever since. I currently work at Old Trafford Football Ground, so regularly rub shoulders with the likes of Bobby Charlton, Denis Law and Fred the Red. I have played football for school teams, and have recently took up refereeing. I also love tennis, cricket and rugby.
I was placed as a general counsellor at Tomahawk Ranch Camp in Bailey, Colorado, and cannot wait for the opportunity to have the best summer ever!
