About Alex...

Heya, my name is Alexandria Barker (Alex) and I am 18 years old. I am from Plymouth originally but I am currently studying Psychology (BSc) at Coventry University. Eventually I wish to become a Clinical Psychologist!

I haven’t really had any jobs, only worked at a local baker for a few months, but I have had lots of volunteering opportunities. The longest role I’ve been doing is being a Young Leader with my local Brownie group, for over 4 years now! Other roles I have been involved in are: School librarian, singing round care homes, being a Senior CyberMentor, a member of CLAPA’s youth council and helping on an underprivileged camp in the UK for a week.  However, I feel the one that helped me the most was being a Young Leader as I am going to a GirlGuiding camp called Camp Pisgah.

At Camp Pisgah I am going to be a general counsellor, which I am thrilled about as it means I can join in all the activities whilst looking after, and making sure the children are having an amazing time!

I can be a very sporty person, with my favourite sport being fencing! Otherwise I have participated in lots of sports ranging from kayaking to rock climbing and everything inbetween. I am also quite a creative person and participate in a lot of performing arts such as dance shows and plays, and I can play 7 musical instruments (not all amazingly though)!

So that’s a little bit about me, and I’ll be posting blogs on all the important stages along the way before going to America and, when I have time, write about my time working and travelling afterwards in America!
