About Kieran...
My name is Kieran Reade and I'm 19 years old, well for another three weeks anyway!
I currently live with my friends near the exciting city of Birmingham studying a degree in Popular Music at The University of Wolverhampton. I'm just finishing up my second year of study and this will be my second year returning to the USA as a camp counsellor (one year wasn't enough!).
My passion lies in music, performing and more specifically playing the Drum Kit. I've been interested in music since a young age and couldn't think of a better area to progress in academically and career-wise. I've performed in a variety of bands and different performances throughout the years and I'm always happy to help out when my expertise is needed. Music is just one of my aspirations though, I look forward to a future where I can teach, travel and perform - which just so happens to be a huge part of camp AND why I'll be returning this year.
I'll be working at Variety Camp and Developmental Center (VCC), Pennsylvania this summer. VCC is a special needs camp and is part of the children's charity Variety! You can find more info on the charity here: http://www.variety.org.uk/
Camp taught me the three Rs like no other job had done before...
RESPONSIBILITY - You will be in charge of a great number of fantastic kids and youths so get involved!
RESPECT - You will make a great deal of new friends from all walks of life so be friendly and be social!
ROLE MODEL - The most important! The campers will look up to you in more ways than one so be enthusiastic, positive and active!
To finish up... Camp changed my life an I'm ready for a second year of it! Within a month I'll be flying off to Mexico to meet up with some of the friends I made at camp and oh yeah be sure to network! After camp I've been lucky enough to find a job teaching English in a school in Mexico City through a friend I met so if you're lucky camp can open other doors as well! I'll keep you all posted with the experience, sights and fun this summer has in store!
